With its NH-D15 G2, Noctua offered three different base profiles to best adapt to different platforms. Depending on whether you have a Ryzen in AM5 or a Core I in LGA-2000, Noctua doesn’t necessarily recommend the same heatsink. As for the new LGA-1851, the Austrian manufacturer is updating its list of recommendations.
LGA-1851: you need a standard NH-D15 G2!
Noctua has updated its recommendation table for its new high-end cooling unit. In any case, with the LGA-1851, whatever version of heatsink you have, there will be basically no problem with contact with the processor. However, it would seem that the ‘standard’ base offers the best contact with the processor. The LBC (Low Base Covexity) and HBC (High Base Covexity) models still offer good contact with these new processors.

In addition to this new socket, there is news for motherboard manufacturers. Intel’s partners have responded to the problems of IHS deformation on LGA-1700 processors by offering low-pressure locking mechanisms on certain boards. However, even with the original Intel ILM, the deformation of the processor will remain low, so we won’t have to buy a contact frame to prevent the processor from bending.
