Big news from Razer with a new product. The company has announced its entry into the power supply sector. After AIOs and fans, it’s time for power supplies. Now that you know the brand, how much will the Razer design cost?
Katana: overpriced power supplies!
With its power supplies, Razer offers us two blocks with power ratings of 850W and 1200W. On paper, performance looks pretty good, with 80+ Platinum certification. Other features include fully modular cable management.
We don’t know much about the electrical side of things, except that Japanese capacitors are used. Clearly, our colleagues at Guru3D colleagues mention a feature that enables switching from multi-rail to single-rail configuration.
Otherwise, of course, Razer will announce the presence of its aRGB Chroma lighting system on the power supply’s 140 mm fan… And that’s all.
All that’s left is to talk about prices, which border on the ridiculous, given how expensive these power supplies are. Excluding special offers, the 850W version costs €399, compared with €499 for the 1200W version… Seriously, at this price, we’re talking about power supplies that don’t comply with the latest ATX standards (ATX 3.0). Likewise, there’s no 12VHPWR connector…
Clearly, pass them by. You’ll find models with better performance, or more recent models with a 12VHPWR connector in particular.
