Many of us have been waiting for Intel’s upcoming ARC GPUs to shake up the market a bit. While there were hopes for the end of the year, we’re now looking at a 2022 launch with a presentation at CES. In the meantime, the little guys from Intel have been doing a lot of tap dancing to keep the media busy. The last one to date, that of Roger Chandler Intel’s Vice President and General Manager of Customer Graphics Products and Solutions, who revealed in an interview that these GPUs will not implement any type of protection mechanism blocking the use of their future GPUs to mine crypto-currencies.

Intel has other things to do than to restrict its GPUs against cryptos ( obviously )

“(…) we design Intel Arc and the Alchemist product family as products for gamers and creators. All the optimizations, the features, everything we do is really to make sure we can solve problems and deliver value to gamers and creators. As far as software locks and things like that, we’re not designing this product or creating features at this time that specifically target minors. As far as what we’re doing to prevent them or block them, this is a product that will be out there and people will be able to buy it. That’s not a priority for us.”
