Is Colorful making motherboards for overclocking? Apparently so, as the manufacturer announces its iGame X870E Vulcan OC. The board seems to be geared towards extreme overclocking, not only because of the codes adopted, but also because of its memory configuration. It is said that the card can handle speeds in excess of 10,000 MT/s. Well, let’s temper this statement, since it’s limited to Ryzen 8000G processors.
iGame X870E Vulcan OC, Colorful’s motherboard for overclockers!
This motherboard is a high-end model designed for AMD Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 and future processors. The board features an AM5 socket and X870E chipset. The power supply is also substantial, featuring 18+2+2-phase 110A DrMOS.
As you can see, this board offers two DDR5 DIMM memory slots. According to the data sheet, with a Ryzen 8000G, this model can handle memory speeds of up to 10000 MT/s, compared with 8600 MT/s with a Ryzen 9000.
With this, we find one or two PCIe slots, one visible PCIe 5.0 x16, probably a second hidden by a cache. The first slot features a quick-release system for the graphics card.
Otherwise, on the storage side, we’re talking about a large number of M.2 slots, five to be precise. These include two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. All this is also coupled with four SATA.
The I/O shield is also very complete, with turbo buttons, a bios update button and a bios reset button. There’s also a PS2 connector for keyboard/mouse, as well as eight USB-As of various standards and two 40 Gbps USB-Cs. For networking, we have WiFi and 5 GbE Ethernet.
There are massive heatsinks for the motherboard’s VRMs, and a screen next to the RAM for system monitoring.
All that remains is to find out the retail price of this model.
