Colorful announces two new motherboards with its iGame B850M Ultra models. The program includes two variations: an Ultra-OC model equipped with two DIMM packages, and a more conventional Ultra-S version with four slots. Naturally, one model is better equipped than the other.
iGame B850M Ultra: two new AMD motherboards from Colorful!
The Ultra-OC:
With this board, we’re dealing with a micro-ATX-format model equipped with a B850M chipset, all coupled to an AM5 socket . This model is distinguished by the presence of two DDR5DIMM slots. These can accommodate up to 128 GB of memory, all clocked at 8400 MT/s. PCIe is handled by a single Gen5 x16 slot, while there are four SATA III and four M.2 slots, two in PCIe 5.0 x4 and two in PCIe 4.0 x4. Finally, the CPU power supply features 10+2+1 power supply phases.
The Ultra-S, the more complete version :
The Ultra-S is a more complete board in terms of RAM, with four DDR5 DIMM slots. Naturally, the card can take on more memory: 256 GB at 8400 MT/s, with a small additional PCIe 4.0 x1. On the other hand, it loses an M.2 in PCIe 4.0 x4, but has a more solid power supply stage with 14+2+1 phases with 80A DrMOS, compared with 60A for the Ultra-OC.
The same applies to I/O connectivity, where this version benefits from more USB 3.2 Gen1 (x4 compared with x2) and USB 3.2 Gen2 (x3 compared with x1). Otherwise, there’s one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C and four USB 2.0. On the video side, we have one HDMI and one DisplayPort, and that’s about it. In addition, networking is limited to 2.5 GbE Ethernet, as opposed to 5 GbE for the Ultra-OC.
Finally, the design is appealing, with large heatsinks and stylish visual elements. It’s worth noting that the OC version eschews Colorful patterns in favor of something more discreet.
