ToughArmor MB842MP-B: a hot-swappable AIC for M.2 SSDs from Icy Dock!

Icy Dock ToughArmor MB842MP-BWith this card, the brand offers us a model in PCIe format, however, the interface is truncated. Indeed, it is a PCIe 4.0 x8 since this model has two M.2 slots. However, it is the way these slots are accessible that makes the product original.

Indeed, to access them, we find two small aluminum baskets also acting as a heatsink. We drop the SSD inside and we slide the whole thing into the PC through the expansion slot available at the back of the tower.

Of course, all the M.2 formats are taken into account: 2230/2242/2260/2280 and 22110. However, be careful with the thickness since the models of more than 3,8 mm thickness are not compatible. The same goes for the SSD interface, only PCIe models are supported, not SATA versions.

For the price, we will retain a high bill of : $249,99. As for the baskets, they are announced at $34.99.
