Galax, in China, unveils new DDR5 memory kits. This RAM belongs to the HOF Extreme series. It boasts high frequencies and rather large capacities!
HOF Extreme: high-frequency RAM from Galax!
The brand’s program includes two new DDR5 kits. While the capacity remains the same: 2×24 GB, the frequencies and timings are very different from one kit to the next. The slower set boasts frequencies of 7200 MT/s with timings of 36-46-46-116. As for the fastest, we find a frequency of 8000 MT/s with timings of 38-48-128. However, voltages are not announced.
On the heatsink side, we find something very well done. According to the brand, the heatsink is inspired by frost and snowflakes… At the same time, if it’s going to end up under liquid nitrogen, let’s face it, it’s in keeping with the theme. Joking aside, the manufacture of the heatsink appears to be a serious affair, based on CNC machining with laser printing for the logo.
Of course, you can have fun with the heatsink’s aRGB lighting, just to look pretty on a benchtop. However, beware of the height of the RAMs, especially if you’re using them with an aircooling heatsink.
As for prices, expect to pay 1,999 yuan (~€260) for 7200 MT/s and 2,999 yuan (~€390) for 8000 MT/s. Now, to get your hands on them, you’ll almost certainly have to turn to JD.com, in other words, the import route.
EDIT : Via this spec sheet, we learn that the RAM operates at a voltage of 1.4V while the PCB is made up of 10 layers. As for the height of the module, reckon on 138 mm.
