With this new update, Rockstar is taking its game to the next level. The main addition is the integration of ray tracing into Grand Teft Auto V. In addition, the title now incorporates upscaling technologies such as AMD’s FSR1 and FSR3, and NVIDIA’s DLSS 3. The game will also support higher resolutions and display ratios, as well as higher framerates.

On the storage front, Rockstar reports that loading times will be shortened thanks to the use of an SSD. However, DirectStorage support has also been added.

Finally, Rockstar adds Dolby Atmos support and improves audio in general, while the PC game will now support DualSense controllers.

In terms of system requirements, the minimum and recommended machines have evolved. As a minimum, you’ll now need a Core i7 4770 or AMD FX 9590 coupled with 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1630 or RX 6400.

The recommended configuration calls for a six-core processor based on a Core i5 9600K or Ryzen 5 3600. On the RAM side, 16 GB of dual-channel memory are also recommended, while the addition of ray tracing requires the use of an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT.

When it was launched on PC in 2015, the recommended configurations were less demanding. The CPU required an i5 3470 or AMD FX 8350 and 8GB RAM. As for the graphics card, we found GTX 660 2GB and HD 7870 2GB.

However, don’t panic: via Guru3D, we’ve learned that this update comes with a separate executable. This means you’ll be able to continue playing the old version if your PC can’t keep up.
