With the North XL, the Fractal Design brand offers us a more imposing reference to the original North. The latter comes with larger dimensions… And more compatibility. What’s more, it still has wood on the front!

North XL: a bigger case, still with wood!

Fractal Design North XL

We start with the dimensions: 240 (W) x 503 (D) x 509 (H) mm. On the scales, the case weighs 9.7 kg with a glass panel, versus 9.5 kg with a mesh panel.

Internally, it is capable of accommodating large motherboards, with maximum support for E-ATX format models. As for the graphics card, we find a clearance of 413 mm versus 380 mm with a front-mounted watercooling radiator. Otherwise, for the ventirad, allow between 155 and 185 mm, depending on whether you retain the side-mounted fan plate.

For watercooling, we’ve got just what you need, with a 420 mm front-mounted radiator support. At the top, you’ll have to make do with a 360 mm slot. Otherwise, by default, the case comes with three 140 mm front-mounted fans.

Of course, the main feature of this case is the wood front panel. The white version features an oak front panel, while the black model is made of walnut.

Finally, there’s a hub for four fans. Otherwise, a Velcro strip system is present to facilitate wiring in general.

As for price, expect to pay around $180 for this version.
