ECS07 : SATA plugs via M.2 connector at Silverstone !

Today, we learn that Silverstone launches a small curiosity on the market of computer components. The brand, via its ECS07, announces a SATA/M.2 adapter. The small card offers five SATA connectors.

ECS07: a SATA/M.2 adapter!

Silverstone ECS07Physically speaking, the brand announces a card in M.2 format on which we find female SATA sockets. The objective, as you can imagine, is to add new SATA interfaces by exploiting the M.2 slots on your motherboard. This can be useful with some entry-level motherboards offering a sometimes limited number of connectors. Otherwise, the module itself remains compact, despite the presence of an aluminum heatsink. The dimensions are therefore 24.8 (W) x 80.5 (D) x 10.3 (H) mm… Even if we will not take into account the height since the SATA are not bent! Finally, we learn that this little thing has a JMicron JMB585 controller supporting five SATA III 6 Gbps. And on the motherboard side, this module uses a PCIe 3.0 interface. Nevertheless, no RAID function is supported, as the data sheet does not mention it. Unfortunately, we don’t know its retail price yet.

This way to the Silverstone datasheet!
