DeepCool’s AK700 Digital is a particularly efficient ventirad despite its 120 mm single-tower format. For our part, we were surprised by its performance on the AM5 socket , where it proved formidable against the competition. But there’s obviously still room for improvement… How? By adding a steam chamber to the heatsink base.
AK700 VC: or how to improve an already very good product!
Adding a steam chamber!
A steam chamber is a chamber containing a heat-transfer liquid that evaporates at low temperature. As it heats up, the liquid evaporates, taking the heat with it. Then it cools down, condenses again and falls back into the chamber to dissipate heat from the CPU or GPU once more. On paper, this technology allows us to go one step further in terms of performance than the classic copper base, and we were well aware of this when we compared the Assassin IV VC Vision to the more conventional Assassin IV.
A slight visual change:
In short, this is the technology we should find in this new version of the AK700. Visually speaking, there’s a slight variation in the perforated top cover, which features AK700 VC WH branding. The format doesn’t seem to have changed, and neither does the fan.
If the ventirad retains its current specifications, it should measure 126 (W) x 98 (D) x 158 (H) mm. The weight could be revised upwards, although the original version was not light at 1252g. And it would still feature seven copper heat pipes.
A rising bill?
At present, it’s hard to predict the price of such a version, but it’s likely to be more expensive than the original model. For example, the AK700 Digital is available for around €70, so this VC version could officially cost up to €80. But for the moment, the official price of this future model remains unknown.
