After the cooling section, let’s now take a look at a small power supply on display at DeepCool’s booth at Gamescom. This is a compact unit, to say the least, as it’s an SFX model with a respectable 850 W output. However, the brand stands out for its high efficiency, as attested by various Platinum certifications!
PS850P Platinum: a DeepCool SFX power supply with excellent efficiency!
A compact unit—exactly what we need more of on the market:
To put it mildly, SFX power supplies aren’t exactly a dime a dozen on the market. Compared to standard ATX models, they’re clearly not the most common. So, having one more option is always good news.
In any case, DeepCool offers us a compact model here with an 850 W power rating. Efficiency should be good: as we mentioned, this model has earned Platinum certifications from both Cybenetics and the PPLP laboratory.
As you can see, the cable set is fully modular, and a 12V-2×6 connector is also included. The rear connectors are narrower; they resemble those found on Cooler Master power supplies. It remains to be seen what the final connector layout will be, but we can assume this model will include two 4+4-pinCPU connectors and two 6+2-pinPCIe connectors, in addition to four to eightSATA connectors, with perhaps a few Molex connectors, not to mentionthe 24-pinATX connector.
As you can see, cooling is also handled by a small 92-mm fan. Given the SFX form factor, there’s no other choice—otherwise, it would fall into the SFX-L category.
Of course, the price isn’t known yet, nor is the launch date. In the meantime, it’s always a pleasure to see the SFF market benefit from new solutions.
