Phantom Liberty is the name given to the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that will be released on September 26. Broadly speaking, this expansion will provide access to a new zone on the map, as well as a host of new features. We’re talking about new weapons, new vehicles and new skills. However, all this is accompanied by new features for your PC. So, which machine do you need to play it with confidence?
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, what about PC configurations without Ray Tracing?
To get the most out of the expansion, we’ve made a few changes to the game’s configuration. Thus, to play in 1080p with low detail and at 30 fps, a four-core CPU will be sufficient with an i7 6700 or six cores with a Ryzen 5 1600. On the graphics card side, a 6GB GTX 1060, an 8GB RX 580 or an Arc A380 will suffice. In any case, the minimum requirement is 6 GB VRAM and 12 GB RAM.
For 1080p in high resolution at 60 fps, you’ll need a boosted CPU. Indeed, an i7 12700 or a Ryzen 7 7800X is required. For graphics, a card with 8 GB VRAM will do the trick, and CD Projekt Red indicates that an RTX 2060, RX 5700 XT or Arc A770 will do the trick. Finally, 16 GB RAM is recommended, while the graphics card should be equipped with 8 GB VRAM.
Finally, in UHD ultra at 60 FPS, the configuration is still a good one, and we’ll be going for the big processors with i9 12900 or Ryzen 9 7900X. On the graphics card side, a card with at least 12 GB of memory is recommended, while the table shows RTX 3080 and RX 7900 XTX. Finally, 20 GB of RAM are required… Ouch.
And with Ray Tracing?
With Ray Tracing, things get even more complicated, as the game becomes even more demanding. In low 1080p at 30 fps, the CPUs are Core i7 9700 or Ryzen 5 5600. The graphics part suggests RTX 2060 or RX 6800 XT or Arc A750, while 8 GB VRAM seems to be the minimum. As for RAM, 16 GB is already required.
At 1080p, ultra ray tracing and 60 fps, we’re talking about 20 GB RAM, while gaming will require a graphics card with 12 GB VRAM. CD Projekt recommends an RTX 3080 Ti or an RX 7900 XTX, as well as a Core i9 12900 or a Ryzen 9 7900X.
Finally, in Ray Tracing Overdrive at 2160p and 60 FPS, we de facto switch to an RTX 4080 with no equivalent on the AMD side. The CPUs are Ryzen 9 7900X and Core i9 12900. Finally, you’ll need at least 24 GB of RAM!
In short, this extension promises to be very demanding, especially when Ray Tracing is activated. Note that in Overdrive mode, the configurations have been tested with DLSS and frame generation.
