Core Ultra 5 234V, the first known Lunar Lake CPU!

Lunar Lake processors are back in the news. This time, we’re talking about the first processor in the series to be named: the Core Ultra 5 234V!

Core Ultra 5 234V: 8 cores, no hyperthreading!

CPU Lunar Lake

In this case, the CPU was spotted by the X account @miktdt, which scanned the entries on the Intel GFX CI platform. The entry we’re interested in is the following:

smpboot: CPU0: Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 5 234V 2.10GHz (family: 0x6, model: 0xbd, stepping: 0x1)

Clearly, the latter clearly mentions the processor, in this case an Ultra 5 234V. What’s more, @miktdt tells us that the processor in question has 8 cores and 8 threads. So there’s nohyperthreading on this model, or perhaps even on this family.

With this model, Intel retains its new “Core Ultra” naming scheme that first appeared with Meteor Lake. Likewise, a new prefix appears with the “V” referring to… ? But in the meantime, it seems to be exclusive to Lunar Lake. As a reminder, Raptor Lake and Arrow Lake CPUs exploit the H, HX and U prefixes.

In any case, this series of CPUs should arrive later this year. Their aim is to rival the Snapdragon X Elite and Ryzen Strix Point CPUs.
