Gigabyte has announced a new motherboard, the B760M Aorus Elite WiFi6E Gen5. The board in question is designed for older generations of processors, the 13th and 14th generation Core i. We can imagine that if Gigabyte is offering a motherboard of this type, there must still be a fair amount of demand for these series. It has to be said that the Core Ultra series doesn’t seem to be as convincing, but that may just be an impression.
B760M Aorus Elite WiFi6E Gen5: new from old!
With this card, the brand offers us a micro-ATX format card, equipped with a B760 chipset and an LGA-1700 socket . The card is therefore ready to accommodate Core i 12000, 13000 and 14000. There is no support here for Core Ultra 200s, as this series does not use the same socket or chipsets.
In terms of connectivity, we find a functional board with four memory slots. These will hold up to 256 GB, all at speeds of up to 5600 MT/s. We’re still talking entry-level here, and it shows. The PCIe part remains succinct with two slots, the first x16, standard 5.0, all reinforced. The second will operate at x4 and will benefit from a PCIe 4.0 standard. Finally, for storage, in addition to the four SATA slots, there are also two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots.
Here, the card does not benefit from all the options that simplify the assembly/disassembly of a configuration. You have to take out the screwdriver to mount the SSDs, and you can remove the graphics card by pressing a locket, albeit an improved one, but there’s no button to release the slot. Fitting the WiFi antenna, however, is straightforward.
Finally, there are 8+4-phase power supplies for the CPU, while audio is handled by an ALC1220 chip. For the network, we have WiFi 6E and Ethernet 2.5 GbE.
