Asus Z690: a button to easily release the first PCIe!

Via our colleagues at Guru3Dwe know that Asus has a nice little feature in store for us on its new motherboards. Indeed, some Asus Z690 boards will offer a button to easily release the first PCIe slot. No more hassle of having to slide a screwdriver behind the graphics card to disengage the latch!

Asus Z690: PCIe Slot Q-Release, a very interesting option!

Asus Z690 PCIe Slot Q-ReleaseThe next ROG motherboards from Asus will integrate this feature. This concerns no less than seven cards with the Maximus Extreme, Formula, Apex and Hero. Even on the Strix series, this option will be present on the -A, -E and -F models.

But what does it consist of? It’s simple, it’s a small button located at the memory slots. When pressed, it will release the first PCIe slot if a graphics card is present. This is extremely practical and saves us from having to take out the screwdriver to press the retention latch. Especially since with a screwdriver, it’s the sliding blow that damages the motherboard circuit. Moreover, when you have a graphics card with a backplate, and a heatsink (or AIO) installed, going to find the latch with your fingers, it is mission impossible.

For the moment, as far as we know, only Asus offers this feature. We had a good look at the images of cards leaked we did not see a similar system. Hopefully it will be democratic!
