Little by little, the launch of the Panther Lake processors approaches, and so do the first results concerning them… Well, this time it’s more a question of a leak concerning the performance of its iGPU, the Arc B390. These first scores place Intel’s iGPU very favorably against AMD’s RADEON 890M: 110% more performance on Time Spy. Yes, that’s some serious beating!
Arc B390: a formidable iGPU!
In broad terms, we’re talking about a high-performance iGPU. Intel has already announced a 50% performance improvement for Celestial over Battlemage. Secondly, efficiency has also been boosted, with an impressive 40% improvement over Alchemist.
But in concrete terms, according to one leaker (to be treated with caution), the B390 scores well against 3DMark Time Spy. The card would post a score in the 7000 pts range, which is around 110% higher than that of the RADEON 890M (in the 3400 pts range). The same applies to the Arc 140T, with a score 84% higher.
But these scores aren’t just excellent for an iGPU, they’re also on a par with dedicated notebook GPUs . According to our colleague, an Arc A730M, equivalent to RTX 2070 Super Max-Q and GTX 1080 Mobile, is worth around 7550 pts.
On Steel Nomad Light, the B390 is around 6,000 pts, while a RADEON 890M is at 3,200 pts and the Arc 140T is at around 3,320 pts. Once again, the difference is overwhelmingly in favor of Intel.
But these gains could still improve as development progresses… The same goes for drivers. The better they become, the better the iGPU‘s performance will be. In contrast, a RADEON 8050S scores 33% higher on Time Spy, compared with 48% on Steel Nomad.
As things stand, the first leaks look very promising, but we’ll have to wait and see until the launch.
