Zen5 is the talk of the town at the moment. After initial rumors of a rise in Cinebench R23 scores, this time it’s TSMC’s order book that’s the talk of the town.

Will TSMC soon be getting big orders from AMD for Zen5?

AMD’s new architecture is due to arrive in 2024. Initially, rumors suggested by this summer, but nothing is less certain. A Taiwanese source mentioned the order book of TSMC, the world’s largest semiconductor foundry.

If this is to be believed, the company will start producing next-generation CPUs between April and June. Thereafter, things would intensify, with mass production expected between July and September. So, if all goes according to plan, we can expect to see the Ryzen 9000 arrive in September.

Of course, with these CPUs, AMD would then be exploiting a sub-5nm etch. We’re expecting a 3 nm core die coupled with a 4 nm I/O die. Naturally, this new generation would benefit from the “Nirvana” cores found in desktop CPUs, while the “Prometheus” Zen5C cores would be found in server CPUs.

Finally, TSMC’s order book is also expected to include burn-in chips for desktop applications, of course. But these orders would also concern the laptop or server segment… Already, the foundry has to deal with the Mi300, a mix of 4 and 5 nm, for HPC(High Performance Computing) already in production.
