A little self-congratulation on the part of AMD, which announced in China that its X3D processors, when coupled with a large graphics card, can reach 1000 FPS. What’s the point? One wonders, since there’s no screen that can take advantage of such a framerate, but the feat is still there!
1000 FPS in competitive games, we can see into the future!
As you can imagine, achieving such a framerate is only possible under certain conditions. The first is to have a Ryzen 9000X3D processor, and the second is to have a big graphics card. Accordingly, the brochure published by the Reds features Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPUs. All this is also coupled with a large graphics card, as we’re talking about RTX 5080, RTX 5090D and RX 9070 XT. However, while NVIDIA-based configurations achieve this framerate in five games: Counter Strike 2, Valorant, PUBG, League of Legends and Naraka Bladepoint, this will not be the case with the RX 9070 XT. Indeed, AMD’s card doesn’t offer the same performance, but can reach this limit in League of Legends and Valorant.
These scores were achieved on a 1080p display that reaches a maximum frequency of 540 Hz, while we found RAM grinding at 6000 MT/s in CL30. As you know, memory also plays a role, as does screen resolution. The higher the resolution, the more negative the impact on performance! Finally, we have some information on the system used: Windows 11 24H2 with SAM and VBS deactivated. As these functionality impact system performance.
Clearly, these scores are impressive, but not tangible. Why not? Quite simply because there are no 1000 Hz displays on the market yet. In fact, the measurements were carried out with a 540 Hz monitor, which is already very responsive, but not sufficiently so to take advantage of this high frame rate.
