Thermalright has entered the mini-PC market with its AI HydroNous R1. This is a truly impressive machine, as it packs a 16-core Ryzen Strix Halo and a watercooling system into a 2.6l case… That’s how much effort the brand has put into integration. What’s more, the attractive aluminum case features an integrated screen!

An aluminum case with integrated screen:

This new machine is housed in an ultra-compact case with a volume of just 2.6l. This translates into dimensions of 83.3 (W) x 133 (D) x 234.7 (H) mm. It is constructed from CNC-machined aluminum for a flawless finish.

However, Thermalright has integrated a small display on the front of its product. This 4.6″ screen, with a resolution of 960×320, will be used for customization and displaying system information such as temperature, frequency, percentage of use, etc.

A big configuration!

This PC features a rather muscular configuration, with a Ryzen AI Max+395 CPU. This is an AMD CPU with 16 cores and 32 threads, capable of turbocharging up to 5.1 GHz. Cooling is provided by a custom 180 mm watercooling system. Clearly, we’re curious to see what it looks like in there!

This CPU is backed by a total of 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory at 8000 MT/s, of which 96 GB can be allocated to video memory for theiGPU. For storage, there’s a 2TB SSD.

Finally, in terms of connectivity, there’s a DisplayPort video output and HDMI. We also have two USB4s that support DP-Alt mode, giving us a total of four possible video outputs. As for the USBs, in addition to the two USB4s, there are two USB-A 3.2 Gen2s. Finally, there’s the network section, with a 2.5 GbE Ethernet socket and a second 10 GbE socket. Of course, WiFi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are also present.

Price:

Inevitably, given this specification sheet, the price is mechanically high. We’re talking about a bill of €3,000 after conversion of the advertised 29,990 yuan. It now remains to be seen whether the AI HydroNous R1 will be available globally.
