Age of Empire IV: a game so light that it runs on an iGPU!

With Age of Empire IV, we can’t say that Microsoft didn’t do everything to make the game accessible. Indeed, the company has developed its game so that it can run on a large majority of PCs… Even those who do not have a dedicated GPU! A salutary move considering the difficult times in the hardware world.

Age of Empire IV: Intel HD 520 iGPU at least!

Age of Empire IV configs As you can see on the picture above, Microsoft has worked well on AOE IV. At least, the game will be able to run with a mobile CPU equipped with an iGPU. This starts with an RX Vega 11 and an Intel HD 520. Finally, on the RAM side, 8 GB are required, a configuration that we easily find on current laptops.

If we move on to the desktop PC, we will have to turn to a Ryzen 3 1300X or an i5 4460T. For the graphics part, the editor announces an HD 7950 or a GTX 760 as well as 8 GB of RAM. Roughly speaking, Microsoft requires a graphics card released in 2012 – 2013.

We push again and there, the configs grow a bit more with a Ryzen 5 2600/Core i5 8400. Here, the necessary cards are a bit more powerful: RX 570 or GTX 970, all coupled with 16 GB of RAM. Here, we must have passed the milestone of FHD details to the fullest, meter at 60 FPS. Unfortunately, the publisher does not stipulate the gaming conditions for each configuration.

Finally, we end with the ideal machine that should be intended for high resolutions (QHD and above). In these conditions, we will have to turn to a Ryzen 5 3600 or an i7 9700 and 16 GB of RAM. For the graphics part, we find an RX 5700 XT and an RTX 2070.

In short, as we can see, the game will be able to run on almost all configurations. It will therefore not be necessary to upgrade your hardware before embarking on the adventure. Note, however, that the game will require 93 GB of storage.
