We talk a lot about the Alder Lake-S, but we should not forget the mobile versions as well, of which a new roadmap reveals a release planned for the first quarter of 2022.
Alder Lake-P/M start production at the end of the year
A roadmap received by the site Wccftech, details information (for the most part already known) on the Alder Lake-P and Alder Lake-M, as well as their production date.
The roadmap lists all the “mobile consumer client” products planned between the first quarter of 2021 and 2022, with the H, U and N series. Mostly occupied by the Tiger Lake in H and U series, and Jasper Lake for the N series.
The Alder Lake-P platform will replace the Tiger Lake H, and Tiger Lake UP3 (formerly the U series). We will be on processors with a maximum of 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores with TDP ranging from 12 to 45W. On the graphics side, an Xe chip with 96EU will be present, supported by PCIe 5.0 and either DDR5 or LPDDR5. Of course, Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4 will also be present.
The Alder Lake-M platform will only replace the Tiger Lake UP4 line (formerly the Y series). On the processor side, we will have a maximum of 2 Performance cores and 8 Efficiency cores contained in TDP of 7 to 15W. We are still on a graphics part Xe with 96 EU but this time if with only PCIe 4.0, LPDDR4X and LPDDR5. Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderdolt 4 are still present on this version.
Alder Lake-P would enter production from the 45th week of 2021, which is from November, and Alder Lake-M from the 3rd week of 2022, which is towards the end of January. This would indicate an availability of laptops equipped with Alder Lake estimated towards the end of the first quarter of 2022 according to this roadmap. So we could have an announcement at CES 2022!
