Several public prices for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D have been published on European merchant sites. The new AMD processor targets gamers with its 8 cores and 16 threads, and clock speeds from 4.7 to 5.2 GHz. We already have its full specification here. It’s due to be launched on November 7, but tests will be published a day earlier according to the latest information. Obviously, the two key pieces of information – after its performance level, of course – will be its price and availability.
Ryzen 9800X3D: a higher price than expected… But beware!
The leaks all come from retail sites, which are usually “content” with retrieving a stream of data from official distributors. We must therefore be cautious about these elements. The sites in question aggregate the data and apply a margin coefficient and VAT. Often, brands change this price at the last minute to protect themselves from leaks… But sometimes they don’t. The prices come from two retailers, one French and the other Lithuanian. The advertised price is between €550 and €560 (including tax, i.e. 20% for France and 21% for Lithuania). That’s a higher figure than most observers are betting on. As you can see, the advertised price is very close, which seems to confirm that these two merchants are using the same feed from an official AMD wholesaler.
However, as we’ve already said, we need to be very cautious with this data. On the other hand, most observers are trying to draw a comparison with the 7800X3D, which has been constantly on promotion in recent weeks (and more generally since its release).
The processor is expected to arrive at a time when Intel has achieved mixed results in gaming with its new Core Ultra 200S. What’s more, while the launch of the latter has gone rather well, it seems that stocks are very limited at the moment… A great opportunity for AMD, which has been going it alone on CPUs for many months now.
