With prices going ” to the moon “, ASRock brings us its H610M Combo. This is a very special reference that can get many users out of a tight spot. It features both DDR4 and DDR5 memory slots. So you can upgrade your configuration to Raptor Lake processors while keeping your DDR4, and still have room for DDR5 when the going gets tough!
H610M Combo: a DDR4- and DDR5-compatible motherboard!
With this motherboard, we return to a reference clearly positioned in the entry-level sector. Although it is equipped with a LGA-1700 socket, it uses an H610 chipset, and the CPU power supply is a little sparse with its 3+1-phase power supply. So don’t be too greedy, and limit yourself to CPUs with a TDP of 125W.
As for memory support, the board features four DDR5 slots for up to 96 GB of RAM, all clocked at 4800 MT/s. As for DDR4, maximum capacity rises to 64 GB, all at frequencies of 3800 MT/s. We’re still talking about small supported frequencies, but we’re also dealing with an entry-level price.
Otherwise, the rest of the connectivity features a first PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, followed by two other connectors, wired to the 3.0 standard in x1. Finally, a small PCI completes the package. The storage section features an M.2 in PCIe 3.0 x4, complemented by four SATA IIIs.
Last but not least, the I/O shield is old-fashioned, with a PS2 connector followed by two USB-A 2.0. HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA and DVI video outputs are also present, as is an RS232 serial port. Two USB 3.2 are also present, in the form of USB-A and USB-C. For the network, you won’t need a big fiber subscription, as there’s 1 GbE Ethernet driven by a Realtek 8111H chip. As for audio, we have an ALC897.
Pricing has not been announced, but considering what’s on offer, the bill shouldn’t go through the roof… Unless the DDR4/DDR5 integration is expensive.
