Arc B770: an update on expected specifications!

Intel was recently in the news with its forthcoming Arc B770, as a customs register recorded a shipment of boxes destined for the card. This would seem to indicate a launch in the near future, especially since, even though this record only surfaced recently, it dates back to mid-June. Anyway, the aim here is to take a quick look at the card’s expected features .

Arc B770: the expected features!

La carte graphique Intel ARC B580 Limited Edition face à la A770 et A750With this card, we’re expecting to see similar features to the previous generation. Indeed, we should find a total of 32 Xe2 cores, which would contain no less than 4096 shaders. As for the interface, PCIe 5.0 x16 is expected to be used, unlike the PCIe 4.0 x16 used on the previous generation of cards. Last but not least, the L2 cache is set to increase from 16 to 24 MB of memory! Of course, the frequencies and TDP are still uncertain, but the memory part will be based on a total of 16 GB GDDR6. With this B770, Intel will only be able to compete with NVIDIA and AMD’s mid-range offerings.

Extrapolating, it wouldn’t be ridiculous to see the card rival AMD’s RTX 5060 (Ti) and RX 9060 (XT). And already, the card offers serious VRAM capacity. As for the memory bus, it is said to be twice as large as that of competing models: 256 bits. The card has the potential to offer solid memory bandwidth.

Now we just need to determine the selling price, and to compete with NVIDIA or AMD, the Blues have to be very aggressive… And even with an affordable price, that’s no guarantee of market share, as we’ve seen so far. And what about performance? Will the card be up to the task or not? We should know very soon. The question is also whether Intel is launching its model too late. Let’s not forget that the B580 saw the light of day in December 2024, and was itself already late, coming as it did at the end of the life of the RTX 40 and RX 7000 generations. To be continued.
