AMD is back at it again with its RX 9070 XT, publishing new figures. During its presentation, the Reds were comparing their new card to the old-generation mid-range. However, what we wanted were the figures compared to the RTX 5070 Ti, which the Reds have just published. According to AMD marketing, the 9070 XT offers excellent positioning and an excellent price/performance ratio!

RX 9070 XT: 23% better performance/price ratio than the RTX 5070 Ti!

RX 9070 XT vs RTX 5070 TiAs you can see, AMD’s slides are very clear and leave no room for doubt. Indeed, when comparing the two cards at their original prices, the company announces a performance/price ratio 23% higher than that of the RTX 5070 Ti, which is no mean feat. What’s more, NVIDIA stocks are very low, if not non-existent, which adds another argument in favour of AMD.

However, one big question remains: will AMD’s partners respect the price suggested by the Reds? Given that AMD will not be offering a reference card, there’s a chance that few cards will be available at $599.

RTX 5070 Ti vs RX 9070 XT

In any case, AMD’s slides show the performance level of the RX 9070 XT against the RTX 5070 Ti. As we can see, AMD’s card does well in rasterisation, with performance broadly equivalent to that of the rival card. However, when it comes to ray tracing, it’s still not quite up to scratch… although things are seriously improving. The differences are nowhere near as great as with the RX 7000. Overall, the RTX 5070 Ti still outperforms the competition by around 2%, but at a price that’s 25% higher and with no stocks to speak of.

In short, the planets are clearly aligned for AMD to have a good year. Let’s just hope that AMD’s strategy works – a little competition never hurts. It’s in this situation that brands perform at their best.
