While the RTX 50s are eagerly awaited – indeed, the first cards are starting to leak– we mustn’t forget AMD. Admittedly, the company won’t be playing in the same category, but we could be in for a surprise in the mainstream sector. We’ll have to wait and see what comes out of AMD’s CES conference. In any case, PowerColor, the company’s partner, is turning up the heat by teasing its RX 9000s from the Hellhound and Red Devil series!
RX 9000 Hellhound and Red Devil, the teasers released by PowerColor!
Of course, the teasers shared by the brand don’t reveal the full cards, just a few elements. In the case of the Red Devil series, there are no drastic changes per se. In fact, we’re back to a card equipped with a three-fan heatsink and no flashy RGB lighting. What’s more, from the looks of the casing, the brand doesn’t seem to have made any major changes, at least at first glance.
As for the Hellhound series, this is where the biggest changes seem to have been made. The rear has been reworked to give it a more premium look. The rectangular, cinder-block shape of the previous series has been dropped. Similarly, the backplate opening is larger than on the RX 7000, and the lighting has also been reworked. We’ll see at the announcement whether the fans are still illuminated, but in any case, a blue light bar is now present.
Elsewhere, the brand has still not given any news about its Reaper series, which was teased before the festive season. We still don’t know how this card offering will be positioned. In any case, with AMD, don’t expect cards to rival NVIDIA’s biggest series. With the RX 9000 series, the reds will be playing elbows with the RTX 5060, RTX 5070 and perhaps even the RTX 5070 Ti.
