The RAM market is also under attack!

After seeing that the graphics cards cards, the motherboards and hard disks it is now the turn of DRAM to be hurt. Indeed, we learn that in the fourth quarter of 2022, the global market has seen its revenues fall by 32.5%! Finally, these values surprise few and remain in line with those of other components.

DRAM: the market was down by more than 32% at the end of 2022!

The report comes directly from TrendForce which announces that the DRAM market was struggling at the end of 2022. Indeed, when we look at the overall figures, revenues were down 32.5%. This was $12.281 billion compared to $18.187 billion in Q3 2022.

In detail, the three major players in the sector, Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron, recorded losses. As a reminder, they alone represent 95% of the DRAM market. Nevertheless, the least impacted of the three remains Samsung with a quarter to quarter decline of -25.1%. Then we find Hynix with -35.2% and Micron with -41.2%. Finally, it is the smallest one that loses the most since Micron represented 23% of market share in Q4 2022.

As for the figures, in the fourth quarter, Samsung recorded a revenue of $5,540 billion against $3,398 billion for SK Hynix and $2,829 billion for Micron. These losses would be related to a decline in demand while prices are falling.
