The F1 2022 Formula 1 racing game recently received an update. This update included the addition of FSR 2.2 technology, a kind of DLSS for AMD. Our colleagues at Guru3D have tested it, we tell you more!
F1 2022 + FSR 2.2 = FPS increase!
As we told you, EA Games’ title now integrates AMD’s FSR 2.2 technology. Basically, like NVIDIA’s DLSS, this technology allows to boost the frames per second. For this, the algorithm will work on lower resolutions than the one used and then upscale them.
In concrete terms, according to Guru3D the gains can be felt on our Formula 1 game of the day. For their readings, they used an RX 7900 XT on different resolutions with graphics settings set to “Ultra”. Similarly, the FSR was set to Quality.
Our colleagues obtained 168 fps without FSR 2.2 against 192 FPS with. Of course, on 1920 x 1080 the gains are not really perceptible with such a configuration. For that, you have to turn to higher resolutions.
In QHD, i.e. 2560 x 1440, we go from 118 fps to 185 fps (+56.78%) with FSR. In UHD now the gain in frame/second shows about 58%. We go from 62 FPS to 98 FPS!
In short, a technology that will only be really interesting on the highest resolutions as the readings of our colleagues can show!
