While the arrival of the 13th generation of Intel CPUs is imminent, some people are already looking forward to the 14th generation named Meteor Lake. This one should bring a consequent jump in term of design compared to Alder Lake and Raptor Lake which share a common base. From a point of view of their iGPU, the latter two are equipped with 96 Xe-LP (low power) execution units. Available information indicates that Meteor Lake deviates from this architecture and instead uses the Xe-HPG architecture for its iGPU. The same architecture used in Intel’s Arc Alchemist graphics cards. A change that could then allow Meteor Lake to have 128 to 196 execution units meteor lake accelerated igpu

Meteor Lake: a much more muscular iGPU?

A South Korean die-hard has discovered additional information about the upcoming 14th generation processors. According to Coelacanth’s Dream, a graphics compiler found in Intel’s GitHub repository has elements accrediting a native raytracing support by the next iGPUs. Meteor Lake should offer some important breakthroughs for Intel with notably the passage of the Intel 7 process (10nm) to the Intel 4 (7nm ) using the extreme ultraviolet lithography system (EUV). A substantial gain in performance is expected but the downside would be a change of socket. Scheduled for 2023, the Meteor generation of CPUs should move to the new LGA 1851 socket.
