P3 and P3 Plus: Crucial SSDs in PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0!

This morning, we learn that the Crucial brand announces the arrival of two new series of SSD. We find the P3 and the P3 Plus. The difference between the two ? The interface used by these different models!

P3 & P3 Plus: PCIe 3.0 for some, 4.0 for others!

Crucial P3 & P3 PlusWhatever the series, Plus or not, we find the same capacities. So we start small with 500 GB, then go up to 1 TB, 2 TB and finally 4 TB on the biggest models. There, clearly, we have something to see coming.

The main difference between these two series is the interface used. The Plus versions use PCIe 4.0 while the more standard models are in PCIe 3.0.

Obviously, this difference of interface is felt on the slower sequential speeds on the SSDs in PCIe 3.0. These SSDs have a read speed of 3500 MB/s against 3000 MB/s for writing. Those in PCIe 4.0 are faster with 5000 MB/s reading and 4200 MB/s writing. Nevertheless, they are not the fastest models on the market either.

Unfortunately, prices are not yet known and we would be curious to see how they stack up on the market.
