New case from Aerocool with the Cipher. It is a model clearly oriented for storage since it has 15 slots for SSDs and hard drives. In short, it is the ideal machine for a storage server?
Cipher: 15 storage slots!
At the moment, a large majority of cases on the market are content with 4 storage slots. Roughly speaking, we have a cage of two baskets for 3.5″ hard drives and two small decks for 2.5″ SSDs. Here, Aerocool decides to buck the trend with a 15-slot storage case.
In detail, at the front of this model, we have four cages of two 3.5″ slots. Another cage of three 3.5″ slots is included under the power supply cover. Finally, four 2.5″ slots are distributed on the power supply cover and the motherboard tray. With its dimensions of 205 (W) x 485 (D) x 485 (H) mm, nothing surprising.
Apart from that, this model remains quite classic with a motherboard support up to the ATX maximum. The ventirad is 160 mm high and the power supply 229 mm deep. Finally, on the graphics card side, 400 mm of length are available, but you will have to remove one of the cages at the front, otherwise you will have to make do with 290 mm.
Regarding ventilation, we have enough to install up to seven fans in 120 mm (x3 in front, x3 in the top). For watercooling, this reference remains compatible with 360 mm radiators as well. Moreover, Aerocool opts for a mesh front panel so as not to restrict the airflow.
Now, it only remains to see what it will give from a price point of view, the brand not being very talkative at this level.
