4800S Desktop Kit: another console CPU for PC?

With its 4700S kit, AMD seemed to be going green. Indeed, the brand simply declined a console APU in PC version. Moreover, this configuration is already found in the CR50 machines of MinisForum. Anyway, today we learn that AMD could do it again with the 4800S Desktop Kit.

4800S Desktop Kit : AMD continues to recycle console configurations!

AMD 4800S Desktop KitOur colleagues at VideoCardz have received a picture of a new desktop kit. For the occasion, we find a motherboard more imposing than for the 4700S. Indeed, the latter is now in micro-ATX format, so exit the mini-ITX for this version.

As for the previous kit, we have a card without a memory slot and for good reason, the latter must be soldered directly on the PCB. The same goes for the CPU. Beside that, we have the right to M.2 for storage, a mSATA for the Wi-Fi card. Likewise, there are four SATA connectors for example. The power supply part consists of a 24-pin ATX and an 8-pin EPS12V. We finish with a PCIe x16 connector to the 4.0 standard, however, we do not know how it is wired (x4, x8, x16?).

On the processor side, we should find a CPU with a Zen2 architecture. Again, the configuration of the latter is not yet known, however, we can expect a model with 8 cores with hyperthreading. The same goes for the frequency, if we can expect a chip with a higher clock speed than the 4700S, the exact figures are still unknown.

Finally, you should know that the motherboard seems to be signed MSI. For the graphics part, we would find an RX 6600 from PowerColor in bundle. In short, a nice kit ready to run that should land in the first quarter of 2022.
