As a reminder, Windows 11 was officially released in October 2021, and it took a long time for Microsoft’s OS to surpass 50% of users on Steam. In fact, according to Valve’s latest hardware survey, by August 2024 W11 had reached 50.81% user share!
Windows 11: 50% on Steam at last!
At Microsoft, the champagne must be flowing! It’s been a long time coming for the Redmond firm’s latest system to surpass 50% user share on Steam. After a revival of Windows 10 in July, W11 posted a sharp increase of 3.36% in August. This increase means that the system is now number one in terms of users, with 51.81% compared with 48.66% for Windows 10 – about time. Next in line are Windows 7 at 0.38% and Windows 8.1 at 0.07%.
For the rest, the typical configuration of a Steam player is made up of :
- CPU: 6 cores running between 2.3 and 2.69 GHz
- RTX 3060
- 16 GB RAM
- 1 TB storage
- 1080p screen
As such, there are still no major changes to the typical configuration on Steam. The RTX 3060 is still the most widely used named card, with a 5.36% share. However, in August it lost 0.35% of users, while the RTX 4060 Laptop gained 1.3%. Will there soon be a change at this level?
