Towards an iGPU-less Ryzen 7 9700F from AMD?

The latest AGESA patch mentioned the presence of a new AMD Ryzen 9000 processor, a 9700F model. Rumors then swirled about a Ryzen 7 9700F, a 65W TDP model with a very aggressive price tag, and no iGPU to speak of. Of course, all this is to be taken with a pinch of salt, but why not?

Ryzen 7 9700F: a new AMD CPU to come?

Ryzen 7 9700FOf course, nothing has been confirmed yet – these are just rumors that surfaced following the publication of the AGESA 1.2.0.3e code. However, it would appear that the Reds are working on a new CPU based on the design of the Ryzen 7 9700X. Firstly, by carrying the suffix “F”, we expect the CPU to be devoid of integrated graphics. In absolute terms, the CPU’s graphics unit is so low-performance that it’s no great loss. Indeed, with its two RDNA2 compute units, it’s hard to ask it to do anything other than display tasks. The other change will concern the processor’s TDP, which will be lowered to 65W from 105W for the current 9700X… Finally, officially, the 9700X is also 65W, but we remember the patch launched to support processor performance via a 105W profile. It was released after the launch to breathe new life into a CPU limited by an overly conservative TDP. It was the talk of the town when the Ryzen 9000 was launched. Otherwise, we’ll find a model with 8 cores and 16 threads, and 32 MB of L3 cache. As for frequencies, it remains to be seen whether they will retain the 3.8/5.5 GHz of the original 9700X or lose a few MHz in the process. In the meantime, the assumed price should be between $250 and $300. The aim would be to position the CPU between the 9600X and 9700X, while putting pressure on Intel and its Core Ultra 5 245K.
