A new graphics card from AMD, which made its RX 7900 GRE official at China Joy in Shanghai. The brand finally completes its offer between the 7600 and 7900 XT, so the gulf was abyssal. But what are we in for?

RX 7900 GRE: an unacknowledged RX 7800?

AMD RX 7900 GREWith this news, AMD introduces a new GPU, the Navi 31 XL, a chip derived from the Navi 31. Its distinctive feature, however, is its smaller package size, which is blatantly obvious when compared to the 7900 XT.

In any case, it’s a neutered chip containing a total of 80 compute units. So, as you can see, we have a total of 5120 stream processors. The memory part totals 16 GB of GDDR6 running at 18 Gbps, all on a 256-bit memory bus. Bandwidth is thus 576 GB/s, while boost frequency reaches 2.2 GHz.

Compared with the 7900 XT, we have a card that is far inferior in terms of features. Its XT counterpart features 4 more compute units, faster VRAM, a larger memory bus and higher operating frequencies.

However, this GRE version comes with a TBP of 260W, compared with 315W for the XT.

Finally, in terms of price, expect to pay around $650, which places it right between NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070. As for performance, we’ll tell you all about it in this article.
