Steam: what about the hardware used on the platform?

Enquête Steam Juillet 2023Well, once again, we won’t give you a table, but Intel and NVIDIA hardware is the most popular on the platform… Or the best detected, but that’s another debate. In the end, the typical configuration hasn’t changed since the previous month. Thus, we find :

  • CPU: six-core Intel running from 2.3 GHz to 2.69 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Graphics card: GTX 1650
  • Storage: >1 TB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Screen resolution: 1920×1080

However, when we look at the top three most-used GCs, we find NVIDIA’s x60 and x50 series. Behind the GTX 1650, we find the RTX 3060 (4.88%) and the GTX 1060 (4.60%). The first AMD card to be displayed is a generic name: AMD RADEON Graphics (2.08%), while the first AMD card to be named is the RX 580 (1.07%). Which goes to show that these are not the most widely used new cards – quite the contrary.

If we take a closer look, the first desktop RTX 40 to be found is the RTX 4070 Ti (0.68%), followed by the RTX 4090 (0.65%). We say “desktop” because the RTX 4060 Laptop accounts for 0.93%. Speaking of the x60 series, which are usually very popular, RTX 4060s aren’t exactly a hot commodity. The 4060 Ti scores a meagre 0.23%, less popular than an RTX 4080 (0.47%).

Finally, on the AMD side, we find the RX 7900 XTX present in 0.17% of machines. We also note that this is its first appearance in the Steam surveys.

Here’s the Steam hardware survey for July!
