The AM4 is definitely going to have a very long life. While AMD has launched its new Ryzen 9000X processors and is about to introduce its Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D, the company is still working on its old platform. Spotted by @Olrak29_ on X and a member of the AMD Reddit subreddit, six new Ryzen 5000G APUs are said to be in the works.
Ryzen 5000G: six new APUs spotted!
On the programme, we find a total of six new processors spotted by our leaker friends. These are the Ryzen 7 5705G(E), Ryzen 5 5605G(E) and Ryzen 3 5305G(E).
In broad terms, these APUs have a number of cores ranging from 8 to 4, all with hyperthreading. However, these are cores benefiting from the Zen 3 architecture released in 2020 with the Ryzen 9 5950X. Here, the suffix G indicates that the processor has integrated graphics. In this case, we’re talking about a Vega model based on GCN 5.1 architecture.
Finally, it’s worth noting that ‘GE’ versions are also available. These benefit from reduced TDPs via lower base frequencies. While the Ryzen 7 5705G runs at 3.8/4.6 GHz(base/boost), its GE counterpart will operate at 3.2/4.6 GHz(base/boost). The same goes for the Ryzen 5 5605G(E) (3.9/4.4 GHz and 3.4/4.4 GHz) and the Ryzen 3 5305G(E) with frequencies of 4/4.2 GHz and 3.6/4.2 GHz respectively.
We should also point out that these processor models arrive without a radbox… Even in their 35W versions.
After a brief search on the net, it doesn’t seem that these models are yet available for purchase. What’s more, it’s not impossible that these processors are destined for the OEM sector, which would explain the absence of a cooling solution supplied as standard. In short, new options for assemblers and system integrators? I don’t see why not. It remains to be seen what the selling price will be, which shouldn’t be very high given the age of the platform.
