Sapphire is starting to communicate about its versions of the upcoming RX 7900s. With its RX 7900 Vapor-X, the manufacturer will offer a more heavily customized PCB and a high-end cooling system. The few images released hint at a PC built for high frequencies that appears to use a 20-phase VRM design powered via a triple 8-pin connector. Sapphire is the third AMD AIB partner to unveil its custom versions of the RX7900, the other two being PowerColor and ASUS. The latest information on the subject suggests that AMD will launch this December 13 with small quantities and that the custom cards will arrive a hair later, at the very beginning of 2023.

Some details of the upcoming RX 7900 Vapor-X…

The RX 7900 are expected to bring a serious alternative to the RTX 4080 or 4090 from Nvidia. In the current context, the price positioning announced by AMD has immediately triggered a positive feedback within the hardware community even if we are talking about cards that will happily exceed 1000€…

The independent tests of these cards should arrive at the same time as the official announcement and it will then be interesting to know if the particular approach of AMD with its RDNA3 allows it to be competitive and really compete with Nvidia. For the moment Sapphire is the manufacturer that has announced the most variations around the new AMD chips.

However, the two cards launched with the AMD Navi 31 GPU could be accompanied a little later by an even more high-end model.
