With DDR5 prices soaring, consumers are turning to more economical platforms, especially when it comes to memory. Indeed, the AM4 is facing a resurgence in popularity, and AMD plans to bring the Ryzen 7 5800X3D back to life. As a reminder, this was originally the Reds’ response to the launch of Alder Lake… And what a response! This processor popularized 3D V-Cache because of the massive gaming gains it brought. If you only plan on gaming, the 5800X3D is the most AM4-efficient processor you’ll find.
Anyway, after rumors of a comeback, the packaging has surfaced on X via a well-known leaker!
Ryzen 7 5800X3D: the return of the king!
The packaging in pictures!
As a reminder, with this processor AMD offered us a model featuring eight cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 3 architecture, with a base frequency of 3.4 GHz and a turbo at 4.5 GHz. But the special feature of this model is 3D V-Cache. In fact, this is the very first CPU to feature this type of L3 cache. In all, it packs 96 MB of L3, thanks to the 32 MB of base memory that make up its unique CCD, in addition to the 64 MB of 3D V-Cache.
Unfortunately, AMD quickly withdrew its processor from sale once the Ryzen 7000 launch was over. But with DDR5 prices skyrocketing, AMD had to react in AM4, and so set about relaunching this CPU via a 10th Anniversary edition in commemoration of the AM4 socket, pictured on the packaging above. In fact, nothing has changed, apart from the presence of an insert: ” 10 years AMD AM4 Anniversary Edition “.
Regional or global launch?
But the big question, still unanswered, concerns the geography of this launch. Indeed, we still don’t know whether this version will be launched globally, or only in the most buoyant markets, such as China or Latin America. It would be a shame if we didn’t, especially when we know that the top-selling CPU on Amazon was the Ryzen 7 5800X…
