The latest Steam hardware survey has just been released, and the news is not good… Well, not good for AMD, at least, since NVIDIA is doing just fine. At the same time, with 92% market share in the graphics card sector, there’s nothing to complain about, far from it. No, where the going gets tougher is with the Reds and their RX 9000s, which, all models combined, do less well than an RTX 5090.

RTX 5090: more popular than all the RX 9000s combined on Steam!

Nvidia RTX 5090NVIDIA’s first feat was to get its RTX 5060 into the top 1 stats shortly after its launch. Indeed, the card arrived on the market last May and has already accumulated a 0.32% share. On the one hand, it’s quite amusing to note the kind of schizophrenia that plagues the GPU market, with feedback from a community complaining about the lack of VRAM on certain cards, but pouncing on them anyway when they become available. But the slightly worrying news here is the absence of a new-generation AMD card in the rankings, even though the first models were released last March. Looking at the details, the cards fall into the “other” category, reserved for references with less than 0.15% share. This is all the more sad since the entire RX 9000 series makes less than the RTX 5090, a particularly expensive card model. But considering the 0.18% share, it’s not far from being a mainstream card 🙃 Finally, from what we can see on Steam, the hype around the new generations of AMD cards seems to have died down quickly. And yet, the series seemed to be off to a good start between the Day-1 stock-outs and the announcement of the first figures, so we figured the cards would appear on Valve’s platform, but a priori they didn’t.
