A while back, rumors were gaining momentum about the launch of an RTX 5050 equipped with 9 GB of VRAM. However, the more time passes, the more questions arise about the future of this card. NVIDIA has indeed relaunched its RTX 3060 12 GB, and this model would ultimately be of little relevance. In fact, NVIDIA’s partners have no further information regarding this model.
RTX 5050 9 GB: The card is still not on the schedule:

Broadly speaking, NVIDIA’s goal with this card was to offer an upgrade to the 5050 by adding an extra 1 GB of VRAM. To achieve this, NVIDIA reportedly usedGDDR7 memory, which is faster than theGDDR6 currently in use. In exchange, the memory bus would have been reduced: 96-bit versus 128-bit, while we’d see an increase in bandwidth thanks to the use ofGDDR7 at 336 GB/s versus 320 GB/s. And to reach those 9 GB, 3 GB modules would have been used. However, the GPU would retain its original 2,560CUDA cores .
But where is this card?
But a post by leaker MEGAsizeGPU on X has reignited speculation surrounding this model. According to him, NVIDIA may have simply canceled the card or postponed it indefinitely. For its part, our colleague contacted the AIB partners, who do not appear to have received any updates or a launch schedule, which tends to corroborate this hypothesis.
On the other hand, with the RTX 3060 making a comeback, one can imagine that NVIDIA has little interest in launching this model. Furthermore, one might also question the relevance of offering an RTX 5050refresh that provides only 1 GB of additional memory—it’s unclear whether that would have made a significant difference in real-world use. That said, perhaps nothing is set in stone for this card yet; NVIDIA might be waiting for memory prices to drop or for better availability. Stay tuned, but it doesn’t look very promising.
