MSI absent from RX 7700/7800 XT launch partners

The next big component launch is the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT. Their aim is to titillate NVIDIA, and more specifically the RTX 4060 series and RTX 4070. To this end, the Reds are positioning their cards at $449 and $499 respectively, with a launch date of September 6. However, MSI is not one of AMD’s launch partners.

MSI won’t be offering a Day-one RX 7700/7800 XT?

For the launch, AMD has a number of partners, nine in all. These include Asus and Gigabyte, as well as AMD-exclusive brands such as Sapphire and XFX. Even in China, the company can count on Yeston and Vastarmor. Unfortunately, MSI is not among these big names in the industry.

This isn’t the first time that MSI hasn’ t rushed to launch an RX 7000. Indeed, when the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT were launched, the brand took several months to offer its custom versions… And even then, these were models equipped with older-generation heatsinks. Only for the 7600 was the brand present on launch day.

At present, when you look at Micro-Star International’s AMD card offering, the catalog is looking pretty thin. Between the RX 7900 XT/X and the 7600, there are just four cards. There are two Gaming Trio Classics for the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, and two small MECH 2Xs for the 7600, with one variant factory overclocked and the other not.

Finally, all this piques our curiosity as to whether relations between the two brands have deteriorated or not? In any case, it’s unlikely that MSI will be taking part in the launch of these RX 7700/7800 XT. However, this doesn’t mean that the company won’t be offering anything, just that it’ll take a while to get something out the door.
