Microsoft’s latest decision may not please all users. We’ve just learned that the software giant has blocked the mechanisms that enabled the creation of a local account. Henceforth, unless you have sufficiently advanced knowledge, use of a Microsoft account becomes mandatory!
Windows 11: Microsoft locks out local account creation!
In a new preview version of the system, it has been revealed that Microsoft has blocked the mechanisms usually used to create local sessions on Windows 11. As a result, it is no longer possible to use the system with a local account, and the Microsoft account becomes mandatory for the use of its system.
Indeed, Microsoft didn’t seem to appreciate the fact that users were bypassing the Microsoft account configuration steps. It was allowing users to close the configuration assistant halfway through.
Of course, there are still methods for creating a local account, but these are far from reach for most users. Roughly speaking, you have to modify the system’s ISO before installing it.
Microsoft’s excuses are as plain as the nose on your face. We’re expecting to hear something along the lines of “it’s not good for the user”, and we can also imagine that security reasons will be quickly put down on paper, not to mention that the overall experience will be incomplete.
So, what options do you have if you don’t want to use a Microsoft account? Using a modified ISO is obviously a possibility. Alternatively, change your system and opt for a Linux distribution, for example. But if you’re a gamer, this means you’ll have to deal with a few setbacks, notably non-compatible anti-cheats that won’t let you play online… Otherwise, you have no choice but to use a Microsoft account.
