There’s renewed talk of Razor Lake-AX, a model number that’s said to correspond to a “super APU” from Intel. The reason this rumor is making headlines again is that the model number for this potential APU has just appeared in the list of planned updates for HWiNFO. The well-known hardware monitoring software is preparing preliminary support for this still-mysterious platform. For now, however, Intel has neither officially announced Razor Lake-AX nor confirmed its release. No price or launch date is known at this time. According to available information, this lineup is reportedly aimed specifically at the segment occupied by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max “Halo” processors, as well as Apple’s high-end M-series chips.

Razor Lake AX

Razor Lake-AX: A Massive APU with Up to 32 Xe3 Cores?

Previous leaks offer an initial glimpse of what Razor Lake-AX might offer. The processor is said to use a massive 37.5 × 56.5 mm BGA4326 package, significantly larger than that of current Intel desktop processors. Two graphics configurations are reportedly being considered, with either 16 or 32 Xe3 cores. This latter version would thus have more than twice the number of Xe cores found in certain Nova Lake chips, which have so far been paired with a 12-core Xe graphics configuration. However, some caution is warranted, as these specifications are still based on leaks and not on official information released by Intel.

Memory Integrated Directly into the Package

Razor Lake-AX could also adopt an approach already used with Lunar Lake, by placing memory directly on the processor package. Lunar Lake pairs its SoC with LPDDR5X memory integrated into the package, although Intel subsequently reverted to external system memory on its subsequent client platforms. In the case of Razor Lake-AX, this architecture could be justified by the bandwidth requirements of a much more powerful integrated GPU. However, the exact type of memory, its capacity, and the width of its interface remain unknown.

HWiNFO Lends a Bit More Credibility to Razor Lake-AX

HWiNFO’s preliminary support provides further evidence of this platform’s existence. The software had already begun recognizing Nova Lake as early as August 2025, well before gradually improving its support across subsequent versions. Razor Lake-AX appears to be following a similar path. HWiNFO’s official changelog now explicitly mentions preliminary support for Razor Lake-AX.

However, this mention does not yet reveal the CPU configuration, final GPU specifications, memory details, or launch timeline. Razor Lake-AX therefore remains an unannounced product, but clues are clearly beginning to pile up around this potential “large Intel APU.”
