Intel driver 101.4952: record performance increases again!

Another driver update from Intel, with the release of 101.4952, a new driver that comes with record performance increases. Some games, such as Halo: Master Chief Collection, boast performance increases of up to 750%! More record-breaking performance increases!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

First and foremost, this new Intel driver highlights support for new games. We find a nice list of five titles: The Talos Principle 2, Robocop: Rogue City, Star Ocean II R, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Then we come to the long list of performance enhancements announced by the brand. Firstly, compared with the Intel 101.4900:

  • The Talos Principle 2 (DX12):
    • Up to 19% more performance in 1440p with high detail.
  • Returnal (DX12):
    • Up to 53% more perfs in 1080p with ray tracing in Epic.

Now, compared with driver 101.4887 (October 2023):

  • Guild Wars 2 (DX11):
    • Up to 53% more perfs in 1080p in Ultra.
  • Halo: Master Chief Collection (DX11):
    • Up to 750% more performance in 1080p with Enhanced settings.
  • Civilization V (DX11) :
    • Up to 6% more performance in 1080p with Enhanced settings.
  • Total War: Warhammer (DX11) :
    • Up to 10% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Lost Ark (DX11):
    • Up to 15% more performance in 1080p with very high settings.
  • Warhammer Vermintide 2 (DX11):
    • Up to 16% more performance in 1080p on Extreme.
  • Sniper Elite 3 (DX11):
    • Up to 37% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • World War Z (DX11):
    • Up to 113% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2 (DX11):
    • Up to 27% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Yakuza 0 (DX11):
    • Up to 154% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (DX11) :
    • Up to 20% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Alien Isolation (DX11) :
    • Up to 9% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Far Cry Primal (DX11):
    • Up to 14% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Far Cry 5 (DX11):
    • Up to 14% more performance in 1080p Ultra.
  • Far Cry New Dawn (DX11):
    • Up to 11% more performance in 1080p Ultra.

Problems identified!

Finally, we close with a list of known problems:

  • Intel Arc Graphics Products:
    • Sporadic crashes may occur in game on Ghostrunner 2 (DX11).
    • Corruptions may appear on Total War: Pharaoh (DX11) after a change of resolution on certain displays.
    • Corruptions using Dynamic Resolution Scaling can be seen on Starfield.
    • Crashes can also be encountered on Dead by Daylight.
    • Topaz Video AI may encounter errors when using certain models for video enhancement.
  • Intel Iris Xe Max Graphics products:
    • Driver installation may not complete successfully on some notebooks equipped with both Intel Iris Xe and Intel Iris Xe Max. A system restart may prevent this.
  • Intel Arc Control:
    • With some games, Arc Control Studio may incorrectly generate multiple video files.
    • When using an HDMI connection, the “Display” page may incorrectly show DisplayPort in the “Connector” tab.
    • A ” Stream already ended ” pop-up may appear after Capture/Highlights/Broadcast have been activated.
    • Arc Control may not retain global application settings in Overlay mode after a system reboot. To get around this problem, you need to run the application in desktop mode.
