We’re talking about an extraordinary chassis. Made entirely of carbon fiber, the EVGA E1 was produced in very limited numbers. It is estimated that fewer than 500 units are in circulation. But that hasn’t stopped Singularity Computers from offering a customized powerboard + distroplate kit. It’s time to demonstrate its potential.
EVGA E1: a challenge
4.5 kilograms of carbon, a motherboard held by metal wires and two 360mm radiator mounts. That’s what the EVGA E1 has to offer, at a starting price of $1,600. Superb in its minimalism, but a real challenge for the builder. Challenge accepted for Singularity Computers with a powerboard simplying cable management and a distroplate to install a custom watercooling loop.
A previous build using these elements can be seen in the gallery at the end of this article (by David Schlessman, based on an EVGA Z790 Dark and an RTX HOF). But this new build is distinguished by a recurring bias at Singularity Computers: limiting the length and number of tubes to the bare essentials, and the same goes for cables. There’s also a clear desire to preserve the chassis’ transparency, with a loop visible from both sides.
An ambitious project
The core components of this build are the motherboard, an unmistakable MSI Godlike, and the graphics card, an ASUS ROG RTX 4090 Matrix modified for a connection to a custom loop . Exceptional products in the spirit of the E1. As expected, tube development has been mastered. The cables, however, are not yet all in place. Let’s hope that the use of a powerboard will enable them to be effectively concealed.
Finally, the custom loop integrates a CPU Optimus waterblock, two 360mm radiators and 6 Phanteks fans.
So far, the new project is impressive. Like many EVGA products from this period, the E1 brings an extra soul that’s terribly endearing. One almost forgets its price and the multiple constraints it brings. We can’t wait to see the final version!
