A rumor has been circulating for several days suggesting that the AORUS TACHYON motherboard for overclockers would not be based on the high-end X670E chipset but on the B650(E) chipset. Here is an information relayed by Hassan and which is quite surprising. Indeed, the various information suggests that the X670E chipset would be the “high-end” version.
Will Gigabyte Have A Tachyon Motherboard For AM5?
Gigabyte's Sofos Oikonomou has stated that there will indeed be a Tachyon motherboard based on the AM5 socket but it will be based on a different chipset, not the X670 so we are likely looking at a B650(E) product.

X670E chipset, high-end but not quite maybe…
Where the X670E chipset could be less efficient is in memory overclocking. If you are a regular visitor to our site, you know that motherboards dedicated to overclocking only have two memory slots. And in this little game, it is the B650(E) chipset that could be more efficient according to our colleagues from Wccftech. We are still guessing here but we should know by the end of August! As a reminder, this future AORUS TACHYON B650(E) will be designed under the watchful eye of the overclocker Hi Cookie. It is in fact him who took care of the management of the first two versions of the TACHYON with the model architected on the Z590 chipset and recently the one in Z690 that we also reviewed.
