Any idea how the RX 7900 XTX performs in Geekbench 5?

With the launch of AMD’s new graphics cards just a week away, we’re seeing leaks offering us the first comparative data for the 7900 XTX in Geekbench 5. But as usual, we have to be wary of all this and remain vigilant. The proof: in just a few hours, new benchmarks were published again in Geekbench 5, giving much better performance figures for the same 7900 XTX.

AMD RX 7900 XTX
7900 XTX performance….Really?

Beware of the first leaks on the performance of the RX 7900

Yet everything started well with a test base consisting of an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor mounted on an Asus ROG CROSSHAIR X670E Extreme. The numbers you will see spinning around on the web should not be retained for the moment. First of all, because of the small details that catch your eye. The frequency of the 7900 XTX is thus displayed at 2.27 GHz while we all expect the 2.5 GHz announced for its boost mode. On this basis, the OpenCL and Vulkan performance of the 7900 XTX is obviously disappointing. It is far from its Nvidia competitors and even below its big sister 6900 XT. It becomes almost clear that something is wrong with this data.

It becomes obvious that if these tests are real, they are made on the basis of drivers that are absolutely not optimized for RDNA3.

At the beginning of this brief, we mentioned a second test run for this 7900 XTX. During this one, it would have obtained an openCL score of 2288647 points when the first test gave it 150372 points

So the message is simple: stay cool, the “real” tests are coming and we will be happy to give you all the information and measurements about these AMD cards.
