An RTX 5090 Astral Dahab sold for $24200!
You’re probably familiar with the principle of charity auctions. The aim is to put an object or lot up for sale, with the proceeds going to charity or non-profit non-governmental organizations. This is the case here, as the money raised from the sale has been donated to the TZU CHI USA Foundation. This is an NGO of Taiwanese origin which also operates in the United States. As for the card in question, it’s a 5090 Astral Dahab, a custom version paying tribute to the Middle Eastern country. To mark the occasion, the board’s fairing, backplate, aluminum fins and PCIe bracket have been gilded. What’s more, the fairing is plated with 6.5g of gold, while the board is a model signed by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang himself, which should add a little value to this model. Finally, we learn that the sale took place from June 4 to 13, and that the winning bidder was a certain Gordon C. It must have been a fierce battle, since the second and third bidders, Trey H. and G C. , placed bids of $24190 and $24180 respectively… Differences of only $10 between each bid. Quite a difference from the card’s original selling price of around $7000.
